HORESTA, the Danish Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Association, serves as a key trade and employers' organization for Denmark's hospitality and tourism industry. Established in 1884 and adopting its current name in 1995, the association represents nearly two thousand member companies, acting as their collective voice. Its core mission involves safeguarding and promoting the business vitality of its members. This includes influencing political agendas and legislative frameworks at national, regional, and local levels through political engagement, analyses, and conferences. HORESTA advocates for favorable business conditions, offering industry research, networking opportunities, and advisory services. It actively shapes industry development, addressing areas such as employment conditions, work environment, food and gastronomy regulations, and economic insights. Sustainability stands as a key priority, and the association pursues Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives to promote attractive workplaces, environmental protection, and responsible practices. It also assists members with related legislation and reporting. Additionally, HORESTA co-established the Danish Complaint Board for Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism in 1998 to resolve consumer disagreements. The association is also a member of HOTREC, the umbrella association for hotels, restaurants, bars, and cafes in Europe.
