Uusi Sauna updates the traditional Finnish neighborhood sauna for a modern context, combining the ritual of heat with a full-scale bar and bistro. Located in the newer Jätkäsaari district, the whole space is designed as a social hub where moving between the sauna and the restaurant is part of the experience. The main room is the large, 100-seat bistro, which opens onto a courtyard terrace specifically designed for cooling off between sauna rounds. From the central restaurant area, you access the changing rooms and the three separate saunas. The men's and women's facilities are distinct, each with its own wood-pellet-heated sauna that can hold about 20 people. In these, clothing is optional. A third, mixed-gender sauna is electrically heated, fits around 15 people, and requires a swimsuit or towel. Adjacent to this mixed sauna is a small, compact cold plunge pool for a quick, sharp contrast to the heat. The atmosphere is communal and often filled with cheerful conversation, with a DJ sometimes playing music. It’s completely normal to see people in towels or robes having a beer or a burger in the bar and on the terrace – this social flow is central to how the place works. The bar serves a solid selection of craft beers that pair well with the straightforward food menu. Just remember to bring your own towel and slippers if you want to avoid the rental fee.
