The whole idea at Paulie’s is to bring a classic New York slice shop from Manhattan’s Lower East Side to London’s East End. Located on Commercial Street, the entire operation is a direct homage to the pizzerias that defined that specific style – large, foldable slices and massive full pies served without any fuss. The result is a menu built around the authentic flavour and composition of a traditional NYC pizza.
Slices are the main event, but you can also order full 14-inch or 18-inch pies. The options stick to the classics, from a simple cheese slice perfect for kids to the quintessential "Classic NY" pepperoni. You’ll also find more distinct combinations like the Vodka & Sausage pie or the Paulie’s Pie, which comes loaded with pepperoni, jalapeños, and a drizzle of hot honey. A thick, pan-baked Sicilian Square pie is also on the menu for those looking for something different.
The space itself is cozy and functional, with seating that prioritizes a quick turnover, just like a real slice shop. It can get warm inside when the ovens are going, but that’s part of the experience. Beyond the pizza, there are a few straightforward American-style appetizers – think Buffalo wings, a Caesar salad, and deep-fried provolone served with marinara sauce.
