Fandango Restaurant sits just off Lighthouse Avenue in Pacific Grove, tucked among old storefronts and within easy walking distance of several hotels. The entrance leads directly into a series of connected dining rooms – each with its own layout, but all sharing the same rustic, European character. A fireplace anchors the main room, usually lit when the weather turns cold. Tables line the windows and spill into quieter corners, set for everything from date nights to larger family gatherings. Guests are greeted and seated by the host or manager, who often recognizes returning faces. The menu leans Mediterranean, with a steady mix of Italian and French staples. Starters rotate through beet and goat cheese salad, Caprese, French onion soup, and calamari. Main dishes cover plenty of ground – New York strip, scallops, paella, and, on some nights, abalone as a special. Salmon and turkey appear during holidays, with Thanksgiving bringing out a full prix fixe menu. Sides stay classic: mashed potatoes, green beans, and a few others that change with the season. Desserts keep to tradition, especially the Grand-Marnier soufflé that’s held its place on the menu for years. The wine list is extensive, and cocktails are available. Gluten-free options are clearly marked. The pace is relaxed throughout. Background music drifts through the rooms, never loud enough to interrupt conversation. The fireplace draws people in on rainy days, adding to the old-world feel – dark wood, framed prints, and soft lighting throughout. Restrooms sit near the back, easy to find but out of the way. Breakfast isn’t on the schedule; lunch and dinner anchor the daily rhythm, with the occasional seasonal or event menu appearing. Some staff have worked here for decades, and that consistency shapes the way the place moves – steady, familiar, and always just a little different depending on where you land.
