Palm Springs VillageFest stretches along Palm Canyon Drive every Thursday night – barricades go up at 6pm, closing off a dozen blocks right through the center of downtown. Once the street empties of cars, vendors move in and set up: tents and tables line both sides, leaving a wide walkway down the middle for anyone looking to stroll, browse, or just keep moving. Most of what fills the stalls is handmade – local art, jewelry, crafts, and the kind of small-batch goods that rarely show up in regular shops. Food stalls run the length of the route, turning out everything from mini donuts and burgers to clam chowder and fresh lemonade. It’s common to catch a sample if you pass by at the right moment. The smell of grilling meat and sweet dough settles over the street as the evening gets underway. Live bands and street performers appear at intervals – sometimes tucked into side nooks, sometimes right in the middle of things. The music drifts along the blocks, but quieter stretches are easy to find if you want to walk and talk. The San Jacinto Mountains frame the whole scene, especially once the sun drops and the streetlights come on. Most people arrive on foot – parking is scattered across side streets and public lots nearby. Hotels in the area sit close enough for an easy walk over, and the whole setup is designed for wandering at your own pace. VillageFest runs year-round, with the occasional adjustment if weather shifts or a holiday falls on a Thursday. The event is open to all ages, and you’ll see families, couples, and plenty of locals mixed in with visitors. The focus stays on what’s local: artists, craftspeople, and food vendors who know the area and return week after week.
